Abstract:

CC Systems develops distributed embedded control systems for use in rough
environments. During the development of a system's control software,
simulations are used to test its functionality and to make the development
process faster, more flexible, and independent of the control system hardware.
This thesis focuses on the dynamic models used in the simulations, and
specifically on the modeling tools and methods used to build the models.
The aim is to simplify the modeling process, and to improve the quality and
applicability of the simulations by integrating a comercial modeling tool and CC
Systems' existing simulation environment.
An evaluation of EASY5, Dymola,
Simulink and SystemBuild shows that Simulink is the alternative that suits the
present needs of CC Systems best. In order to make Simulink models fit
properly into the existing simulation environment, required interfaces and
functions are implemented. The resulting solution is tested and shows that it
makes faster and more complex modeling than today possible. Simulink and
the implemented interfaces perform satisfactorily.
