CC Systems AB develops control systems for application in rough
environments, where the requirements on the equipment are high. To
increase the mobility for the user the possibilities of using radio
remote controlled systems are to be investigated. In this thesis two
techniques are studied: DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications)
            and a tailored radio system.

Due to aspects of cost, size and complexity DECT is discarded in
favour of the tailored radio system. The result is a working remote
controlled system using radio communication and CC Systems AB´s control
system, CrossFire. The radio system uses block coding. Interference
problems are handled using continuous changes of the carrier frequency,
frequency hopping. The system also controls that the contact between
the two units is maintained and if it is broken the control signals
are stopped. To avoid disturbance from other transmitters every message
is addressed and before the control unit acts on a command the address
is checked to origin from the correct source.

Building a radio system that can be used together with the control
system works well, which makes it a possible alternative, instead
of DECT. Complicated laws and regulations, however, is a factor of
            uncertainty.
