          Abstract:
Increased heterogenity in link layer technologies used in the Internet
have created the need for header compression over problematic point-to-point
links, thus minimizing the per-packet overhead in a transparent way.
Over the years, several different types of header compression algorithms
have been designed. In this seminar, you will be introduced to the
most common algorithms used in the Internet today, namely VJ header
compression, IP Header compression and Compressed RTP. You will also
get an introduction to the Robust Header Compression (ROHC) class
of algorithms, platform- independent implementation issues and current
            research within the area.
